Topography Mapping using LiDAR Survey

The primary object of this project was to create a Digital Terrain Model (DTM) for a greenfield mine area. The client required a high-resolution topographic model to accurately detail the surface topography and surrounding objects, which is critical for supporting accurate development planning and needs analysis of the area.

The acquisition phase utilized a Multirotor UAV equipped with a LiDAR sensor, RGB camera, and a GNSS-PPK system. We employed a terrain-following flight path design at an altitude of 80–100 meters with a controlled speed of 5–7 m/s to ensure optimal data density.

To guarantee high accuracy levels, the team installed four benchmarks using PVC pipes as references, accompanied by geodetic GNSS surveys to measure Ground Control Points (GCPs) and Independent Check Points (ICPs).
